Design & build
The OneOdio Pro-50 build is mostly plastic. The headphones are very light and weight only 263 grams. Build quality is in general decent.
The headband is made out of metal. It’s covered with memory foam and wrapped in pleather. The joints are plastic, but have a metal reinforcement. Ear cups are made of plastic, and the silver ring is actually a plastic too.
The ear cups rotate inwards at 90 degress and outwards at 5 degrees. But be careful which side you rotate it to. Cups flip 180 degrees, but hinges lack a bit of resistance, so this rotation is not well controlled. The headphones also fold which makes them more compact for travel usage.
The ear pads are soft and made out of plether. They also have a memory foam inside. Overall the earpads are nice and I like the red stitching. Clamping force is a bit on lower side, I myself have an average head, wear a L size helmet and for my personal liking the clamping force could be a little bit stronger. The passive sound isolation is average.
On the bottom of the ear cups we have cable connector, not just one, but two connectors – 6.3 mm in the left ear cup and 3.5 mm in the right ear cup. Overall comfort is quite good. The earpads are really soft and I wasnt experiencing any fatigue or discomfort even during long listening sesssions.
Cable and use cases
OneOdio Pro-50 has a very well thought cable system and it has two cable sockets. The 3.5 mm TRS connector on one side and 3.5 mm TRRS connector on another. The headphones also come with two cables. A straight 1.2m cable with built-in microphone that has a 3.5mm connectors on both sides. And a dual duty 3 meter long coiled cable with 3.5mm connector on one side, 6.3mm on another.
The cable system brings us to four different type of connections you can make.
- Use case scenario 1 – use 1.2m straight cable with smartphone, DAP or tablet
- Use case scenario 2 – use dual duty cable with 3.5 mm devices
- Use case scenario 3 – use dual duty cable with 6.3 mm devices
- Use case scenario 4 – connect second pair of headphones to Pro-50. But this changes impedance and depending on your source can change the overall sound.

OneOdio Pro-50 sound overview
In general OneOdio Pro-50 has a V-shaped sound signature
Bass – mid bass is more prominent then sub base, there is enough of quantity and details, especially taking into consideration the price, The bass has a good impact, is quite good defined, but lacks a little bit of control.
Mids – mids are recessed and this is not surprising for a V-shaped sound signature. The vocals and instruments sometimes lack note weight and separation. This leads us to the point that midrange timbre is not very accurate.
Treble – treble extension is average, it lacks details and I would personally like a little bit of more air and sparkle to balance the heavy low end of this pair. But no matter what, the details are present but treble can be sometimes harsh, especially on high volumes.
Sound stage is above average and it’s quite wide for a pair of closed back headphones, imaging is also accurate for this price range. Separation of instruments is definitely not a strongest part of this pair, but I won’t complain as they still blow a lot of competition in this price range out of the water.
Conclusions
Pro-50 is quite solid offering in this price category.
Pros:
- Price, lightweight and comfortable, well thought cable system with deattachable cables, a lot of bass, and overall sound quality is quite good.
Cons:
- I’d personally prefer a little bit more of a clamping force, passive sound isolation is average, treble can be harsh for some, especially on high volumes
If you’re on a budget and are looking for a pair of closed back headphones – you just can’t go wrong with Pro-50 as this is one of the best closed-back offerings currently on the market under 50 US dollars.
